NinjaTrader Risk Management Identified Problems

My trial ends this Friday April 2nd. Spend a great deal of time testing the application. It must manage Risk by closing all positions when: (IT MUST MANAGE RISK AS PROMOTED FOR MY TO PURCHASE)

Drawdown risk exceeds - Close all positions
Margin levels drops below - Close all positions
Annunciate alarm when position open without stop loss.

Account Alarms:

Margin level drops below [%] Cannot get this constraint to trigger no matter where I set it. 1% or 99%, run my account to the rails. Still won't trigger.
Drawdown risk exceeds [%] This will activate a trigger BUT, it will not close all position or close losing positions. Get's triggered and disables itself with no action.
Balance has decreased by [%] missing close all positions as an action
Account equity drops below [$] will in fact close all positions. Seems to be the only feature that works for me.

Trade Activity Alarms

When there are positions with no S/L Every time I move my stop loss this alarm activates falsely and deactivates itself.

Closing comment:
This would be a great product if the features worked as promoted. I work with hundreds of students and could see myself promoting this product if it could truly manage risk by executing flawlessly.

Thank you for reporting this, for me to investigate can you take a screenshot of the account window as shown below and tell me the type of account you are connecting to, we currently have over 100 customers using this tool and have not had any complaints as yet, so the issue could be your account type. Some of the errors above were identified 6-months ago and fixed with the latest update 2.4.1 (you can find this in the about tab)

The screen-shot below shows a connection to My NinjaTrader FXCM, are you using the Simulated data feed?

You should see the Net profit losing more than value to be ($XX.XX)

Voice alarm when position open without stop loss
You need to install the voice pack, the button is on the about tab.

Balance has decreased by [%] missing close all positions as an action
This feature is not included.

Good Day Support; I have attached the screen shot below. Writing to you to bring even more clarity about two features that is a must for me;

Drawdown risk exceeds [%] = Action [Close all position]. As mentioned eariler, Risk manager was sucessful in "Closing all position" when "Account equity drops below" is the trigger. So this great we have proven that at leat with "Account equity drops below" is triggered the path to close all position is proven to work, but not so with "Drawdown risk exceeds". In the finer examination in indicated to you that the constrait "Drawdown risk exceeds" does in fact trigger the important part is that it fails to execut the action "Close all position".
"When there are [ ] position with no S/L" This seems to be a timing issue. As mentioned earlier, when I MOVE the stop loss the the alarm falsely gets triggered. Seems as though it needs a debounce timer to see that the event is true for let's say 500 ms. That would allow the logic to ride throung the minor event and stay armed. For this to be a sucessful alarm it should rarely be triggered if a person is in the habit of bracket orders like myself. The idea of having to re-arm the alarm everytime I move my stop loss (Perhaps 30 or more times a day) means a peson will just give up using this feature. Nay, it should be much more robust so that it unloads the user rather than loading them up.

Aslo my license key for the 14 day trial will end this Thursday April 1st. I would like to proceed to purchase should we be sucessful in getting the "Drawdown risk exceeds then close all positions" working and tested on my end. I will need to be able to test it on my end.

Drawdown Risk Exceeds

Thank you for the information, I tested with both 0.01% and 1% and it works fine, the first image below shows a popup alert and the 2nd image shows the position closed when the 0,01% DD target is reached.

There are 3 settings to close positions, close all winners, losers and all positions, make sure you are using Close All Positions

Where there are X positions with no stop loss
I have managed to duplicate this bug and the fix will be added to the next product update.

@rinnstrang#697 You will need to install the product on a different machine to start a new trial, we are unable to extend the trial period.

Ok, So what is wrong with my set up? Why would it be that Close all position work only for "Accoutn Equity drops below" and not for anything else? What do I need to do on my end?

When observing the Dashboard panel, I do see the drawdown risk change from green to red when my trigger/trip point is reached. Fails to close all position when I test it. Trigger withno action?

I tested with the same setup as you with a demo Continuum connection and everything worked fine, sorry I could not help further, but as it is working for us and no other customer has reported any issues I will close this ticket.

Hi, Shane, it is not possible to extend trial periods on the same machine, but you can install it on another PC or VPS to test.

Hi Sophia, Final question. The setup I am using had taken me a a while to setup to trade with. And it is the machine I will need to use. Was wondering if I purchase the application, would I be entitiled to a refuned if I can't get it working after exhausting all efforts. Honestly, I am not trying to get away with anything. I could realy use this product if I could get it working for me. Your thoughts?
