Hello,
I just downloaded the Smart Grid trial version (although I do intend to purchase), and trying to get started with the initial settings and optimisation etc.
The documentation is all over the place with earlier versions mixed in with later versions. Much of the earlier stuff is indeed pertinent, but I never know what is and what isn't pertinent., so I search and search. I do have some immediate questions:

Does the Trial version not include the News Manager? It was not included in my download.
The initial settings file, was not included in the algo zip file as one post said it would be. Do you get these when you
pay your money?
It would be nice having a ReadMe with the download with all the latest pertinent info and most recent links in one place.
Searching searching searching is costing me a lot of time.
Can you give me a links to the latest "Getting Started" and Optimisation videos? The ones I have watched are all for
earlier versions, which are helpful, but I continually wonder what I am missing in newer docs.
Aside from the date and time of the download zip and algo files, how does one determine the version number of the
installed bot?

Hi, I will try and answer your questions below.

The product page states that the news manager is not included in the purchase.
On the product page, we state that you can request a one-off on-demand example optimised settings for one year, these are not meant to be used for trading, just an example. As the trader, you will need to learn how to regularly optimise and backtest the strategy.
We only provide online user guides, you can find the user guide here, there is a link to it from the product page. This guide is up-to-date and the latest.
You can find the link on the product page for optimisation and backtest videos, this was published 10 months ago.
You can find this information on the product page and also on the downloadable products page in your account.

Hello again,
Dong all the homework you gave and got going nicely. I am happy with my Optimisation efforts, got a starting set together. I started Smart Grid in the Algo tab, and got no response in the log. So I stopped it and started from a Chart View, and got the registration note. I registered it, and checked my ClockAlgo account and it shows as registered. I couldn't get anything from the log except the indicators loaded message. I started the bot last night and this morning it was not running. No log entry about why it quit. I started it again and it just stopped a few minutes later. I am not sure where to go from here. I know I saw a forum screen or two about this subject, but cannot locate it now. Will keep trying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Usually, if this cBot stops after 1 minute, it is not registered for the cTrader account you are using; it will only work with your cTrader ID. When you start the cBot, you will see the log information below.

If the cBot suddenly stops, you will see an entry in your cBot log; Many actions will automatically stop the cBot, such as equity, balance, drawdown, etc.

A screenshot of your cBot log showing it started and stopped.
A video clip showing you starting your cBot and it suddenly stopping.

I managed to find one problem. A trap for young players as they say. I discovered that little tab below the Log tab in the Trade Watch window. Arghh. But it is a cool feature, I like it, great way to have a variety of logs for different purposes. I will carry on... Thanks your comments.

I have managed to solve most of the issues I mentioned in the above discussion.
There are some tricky little issues when installing/starting/registering the Bot that your documentation did not cover very well. I am sure you are aware of those by now.
So consider this a new start.

I got the Opting and Back testing going and spent many hours with that, very happy with that process, but found that as a newbie, I had to spend the time it to get the hang of it. And I was already familiar with the process from my MT4/5 days.

My problem now is, SmartGrid is not issuing any trades, after running for 4-5 days. I checked the Backtest results and noticed this could be possible, with several gaps of a few days between trades. BUT, when I run a Backtest covering the same 4-5 days, I can see there should have been 3 trades. I have studied other EURUSD botsets from your SG-Share Your Settings section and cannot spot any major issues in my settings. I am setting up another CTrader instance up on another more reliable computer ready to go when the market next opens to continue trying to solve his problem.

I notice in the SG TIPS & TRICKS, there is comment that the Grid Distance (GD) should be set at >2. When I did this while OPTing, performance dropped considerably. And I noticed it was set to 1 in Mike's 2022 EURUSD setting files. SO I don't think that is it.

I double checked typical EURUSD spreads, and set MaxSpread to 3, and Slippage is 50, is 3 too tight?

Can you give me some points to check before I bother you with my settings file?

Always backtest with tick data, or the results will be different. Share your settings with the backtest dates, and I will run a test on my PC. The grid distance depends on your asset, making you consider the market spread for it.
