cTrader Optimisation approach

Hello,

Got a general question around optimisations. So, the guide and video you have done, suggest starting with 3 months of data, doing an optimisation, then running it in a backtest with same conditions and if successful, run with tick data.

What i want to know is, if you do an optimisation and the results are decent and then run in backtest and they are bad, what do you do after that?

If your optimised settings do not match your backtest settings, you are doing one of the following wrong.

Not applying your selected optimised settings to your cBot instance.
Not using the exact backtest settings.
Not using the exact start and end dates.

Thanks for your reply.

I ran the optimisation for dates 01/04/2024 - 30/06/2024, saved the parameters, opened the backtest and loaded in the saved parameters and ran on the same dates.

The backtest settings are different from your cBot parameter settings.
